Athlete of the Year Men’s Sport – Patty Mills became the first Indigenous Australian flag bearer when he led out the team alongside swimmer Cate Campbell at the opening ceremony for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. As Boomers captain, Mills led Australia to a 5 wins / 1 loss record – his incredible 42-point performance against Slovenia playing no small part in securing the Boomers first ever medal at an Olympics or World Cup Tournament. He was the 3rd leading scorer in the Olympic tournament with 140 points, alongside 6.3 assists per game, earning him a place in the tournament’s All-Star Five.
