The 2019 Australian Dragon Boat Championships, held in Canberra for the first time since 2011, were a highlight. Around 3,000 participants and supporters attended the Championships over six days in April, together with members of the public who enjoyed the spectacle at Weston Park. Representative teams from all states and the ACT raced to be the champion state, with 72 clubs vying to be crowned Australian club champion.
The event was organised by Dragon Boat ACT, in partnership with the Australian Dragon Boat Federation. Dragon Boat ACT members from ten clubs came together to prepare for the event, joined by nearly 200 volunteers who worked over the six days to make it a success.
