Ginninderra Athletics (Tigers) celebrates its 40th year with the reintroduction of the cradle to grave approach to community sport. The traditions of the club remain and are respected and previous Tigers are returning with their children or as coaches for this very reason. The club demonstrates outstanding commitment to innovation by improving accessibility to sport across the life span, supporting inclusiveness, promoting athletics and increasing physical activity opportunities. One Sport the Future Course– An Independent Review of Athletics in Australia 2015 publication identified Little Athletics as one of the oldest and largest athletics association in Australia. A key recommendation of the report advised the need for organisations to look to ways of making the sport of athletics more accessible to a wider range of age groups and skill levels. Recommendation 15 of the report discusses the need for club development and increasing responsiveness to junior transition and community expectations.
In this respect, the Tigers are at the forefront of innovation. They are regarded in the ACT and across Australia as being leaders in athletics clubs through their commitment to improving the conduct and administration of club sports.
