Jeff Goolagong

Softball Full Member Inducted: 2019 Jeff Goolagong has had a long and distinguished softball career, representing the ACT for 14 years. He helped the ACT win nine Open Men’s National Championships, a number extended to 14 with his continuing contribution as a coach and mentor. Well known for his versatility as a shortstop/utility, Jeff first represented Australia in 2001 at the Trans-Tasman Challenge staged in Canberra. After claiming Most Valuable Player in this debut tournament, he went on to represent the Aussie Steelers on 110 occasions, including as part of the team that won the 2009 ISF World Championship in Canada. The ACT has long been a rich breeding ground for softball talent. Jeff has been integral in helping to develop this talent, fostering a strong culture within a generation of ACT-based male players that has seen the ACT 89ers emerged as arguably the most successful state side in the history of Australian softball. In October 2018 Softball Australia added Jeff to its Hall of Fame, an award presented to him in January 2019 at the Open Men’s National Titles held on his home pitch at the Hawker International Softball Centre.
