Kim Brennan went into the 2016 Olympic Games as favourite. Kim recovered from nearly sinking in the heat to significantly improve through the regatta. Kim secured the Olympic Gold Medal in a dominant performance where she rowed her own race and demonstrated her wonderful technique that has been refined with many hours on Lake Burley Griffin. Kim sets a consistent benchmark for high quality training that was reflected in her Gold Medal final. Kim is widely regarded as an athlete who epitomises the Olympic spirit and was awarded the honour of carrying the Australian flag at the Olympic closing ceremony. Off the water, Kim chairs the Australian Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission and is a practising lawyer.
