Through Little Athletics, athletes are able to develop the skills of running, jumping and throwing in a fun and social environment. Little Athletics ACT believes that the emphasis for young children participating in any physical activity should be placed on self-improvement and learning the social skills to help address important issues such as child obesity, self-image and esteem and this ensures that the focus remains on keeping children active and having fun, regardless of their ability. The nature of Little Athletics encourages and requires parents to also be involved in the sport and without parent volunteers, it would not be possible to deliver the program. This helps to encourage a family-friendly environment, with parents being able to be involved on many levels, from raking the long jump pit right through to acting as President of the Association.
With a strong focus on inclusion of athletes of all abilities, Little Athletics is a sport that everyone can participate in whilst having fun and making friends.
