A wonderful volunteer led initiative which established the club as Canberra’s first carbon neutral community sporting club in the ACT.
The project began by installing new LED lighting with the assistance of an ACT Government grant. The club then installed solar panels and a storage battery through the ACT Government’s Next Gen Energy Storage Program. This installation allowed the tennis club to reduce its electricity bill by eighty per cent and enabled the club to become carbon neutral.
The project now allows the club to run a full night of competition games under the LED lights off the battery and still have a small amount of residual power.
