While donning the green and gold in Tokyo, the Olympic Men’s Quad Scull team was also very much blue and gold – Caleb Antill and Luke Letcher are local rowers, schooled through Canberra Grammar and Radford College respectively while also both part of the ACTAS pathway. They were joined in the boat by Jack Cleary who trained locally throughout 2021 within the Rowing Australia/ACTAS pathway, and Cam Girdlestone who also lives in the capital with his wife and young family. The crew underwent extensive selection trials in Australia as they were unable to travel overseas prior to the Olympics, competing in a series of selection regattas to fine tune their Tokyo preparations. It certainly paid dividends, the crew taking the bronze, only 1.9 seconds behind the victorious Dutch team.
