After being part of the ACT rugby community for more than 50 years as a player, coach and administrator, Geoff Larkham’s name is mentioned amongst rugby royalty in Canberra.
Geoff commenced his senior playing career in 1962 with the Lyneham club, playing 419 games with the combined Lyneham/Wests club. He then retired from playing at the age of 45 after winning twelve premierships in all grades.
Whilst balancing a family and farm just outside of Canberra Geoff also coached many junior and senior teams for his clubs, from under 8’s to second grade including two international players, Matt Tepou from Tonga and Stephen Larkham.
During his time he also presided over the Wests licensed club for some ten years. He has been recognised by both his juniors and seniors club with a life membership.
Geoff has been a board member of the ACT and Southern NSW Rugby Union since 1999 and has been President since the 2004 season. During this time he has overseen the growth of the Brumbies, two championships, seven finals, an Australian championship and a historic win over the British and Irish Lions.
