Two-time CBR Sport Awards winner and triple Olympian, in March aerial skier Laura Peel won the final World Cup event of the season on next year’s Olympic course in Italy. It was her fifth victory of the season and the 14th of her career. In doing so, she claimed her third FIS World Cup Crystal Globe as the number one-ranked athlete at the end of World Cup circuit.
Heading into the Italian finale, Laura had a near-unbeatable lead in the standings, needing only to finish 12th or better to secure the Crystal Globe. But she didn’t play it safe, upping the degree of difficulty in the super-final to score 112.90 points for a spectacular full-full-full triple twisting triple back somersault – one of her best jumps of the season.
