CBR Sport Awards Nominations

Nominations are now open for the CBR Sport Awards 2022 to acknowledge and celebrate our exceptional local athletes, teams, coaches, volunteers and sporting organisations.

After a couple of challenging years, 2022 has seen a return to great sporting achievements for our local champions, including huge success at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The Games brought back a total of 9 medals, 2 GOLD, 5 SILVER and 2 BRONZE, across 7 sports including athletics, basketball, cycling-mountain bike, hockey, gymnastics, swimming, and triathlon.

“The CBR Sport Awards allow us to take time to reflect on and honour the excellence of our sporting communities, whether that’s on the world stage or within our own, local sports. We love celebrating the outstanding achievements of all involved.” said Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry.

“Our Canberran athletes excel in such a diverse range of sports. These awards give us a chance to acknowledge  their hard work and success.”

This year’s winners will join the ranks of champions like Patty Mills, 2021 Athlete of the Year Men’s Sport, Laura Peel who took out Athlete of the Year Women’s Sport 2021 and our Athlete of the Year Para Sport 2021 James Turner.

Peak sporting organisations and local sporting clubs are encouraged to nominate their highest achievers in community sport and at the elite level – who contribute to the ACT’s proud sporting culture.
